Research Focus: Trained as a social and psychiatrist epidemiologist, Dr. Reisner’s research focuses on understanding and mitigating health inequities in mental health and substance use, HIV infection, healthcare access, and stigma-related health outcomes. Dr. Reisner brings deep expertise in community-engaged epidemiologic research methods, LGBTQIA+ and transgender population health, peer-delivered interventions, observational cohort and clinical trial design, and social determinants of health. His work utilizes a “participatory population perspective” (Reisner et al., Lancet, 2016) to work “with” not “on” communities to advance health equity and innovate public health solutions.
