Explore funding and financial aid options

Financing your education is an investment in a better future. We understand how important financial considerations are in your decision to pursue a graduate degree, and we’re here to partner with you to help identify resources and opportunities that will support your needs and academic success.

A variety of types of assistance are available to help you cover your costs—federal loans, work-study positions, scholarships, fellowships, graduate student instructorships, graduate student research assistantships, full-time and temporary employment, and private sources. Note that not all funding options will be available to distance learning students.

Further Resources for Financial Matters

Set up your University of Michigan uniqname and email account

Once you confirm your enrollment, you should receive an email invitation to set up your uniqname, which is your University of Michigan username. It is used for logging into U-M websites, email, and more. This is the first step to setting up your email account.

Once your University of Michigan email has been set up, it’s important to check it regularly, as we’ll be communicating important information about registration, orientation and more.

Once you set up your uniqname and email address, there are a couple additional steps you’ll want to take:

  • Update your Campus Personal Information in Wolverine Access (under Student Business).
  • Register your laptop with the University Police.
