The final Zine & Be Seen session will take place on April 14 from 1:30-3:00 PM and will center a Celebration of Community Storytelling, marking the close of this year’s series. Participants will have the opportunity to: -Create an end-of-year mini zine -View, share, and uplift one another’s work -Explore zines created by fellow community members -Participate in a zine-themed bingo activity with prizes -Be in community with others while enjoying light refreshments Zine & Be Seen is a creative workshop series from the Office of Access, Culture, and Community that uses zine-making to explore pressing public health issues. This year’s sessions have focused on mental health, disability and access, immigration and belonging, and ecological and social activism through a health equity lens. Across both themed and open workshops, participants have engaged in collage, writing, and storytelling to reflect on their “public health why.” These gatherings are inclusive and low-pressure, centering process over product and welcoming all levels of artistic experience. The series fosters community, solidarity, and creative resistance in pursuit of a more just and equitable world.
