Join us as we welcome Dr. Zainab Hans for a lunch and learn seminar! Dr. Hans is a Research Investigator at the University of Michigan Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention (IFIP) and Project Director for the research and evaluation component of the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program in Michigan. She received her doctoral degree in Economics from Wayne State University and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at IFIP. Her research integrates economic theory and quasi-experimental methods to examine the socioeconomic and structural determinants of interpersonal violence, firearm injury, and related public health outcomes. Her work spans intimate partner violence, child abuse, housing policy, and firearm injury prevention, with a particular focus on how macroeconomic factors and structural disadvantage shape vulnerability to violence across populations.
