Shichi Dhar is a pre-medical student who one day wants to be involved in delivering a more holistic approach to healthcare. She is a senior in the Bachelor of Science program at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. To Dhar, “traditional medicine can only do so much,” and that’s why public health is so paramount in her eyes.
Allison and Caroline Tuohy took different routes as they studied towards earning their degrees from the University of Michigan School of Public Health but reached a similar destination. Allison focused on a degree in Community and Global Public Health, while her younger sister, Caroline, majored in Public Health Sciences.
Sukhman Parhar is pursuing a BS in Public Health Sciences from the School of Public Health. Parhar’s passions and education have influenced his interests in public health and medicine.
Traveling through rural areas of other countries in her youth gave Helena Helme an introduction to public health. Helme is a senior, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She is expected to graduate in May 2024.
In the pool, Michigan water polo student-athlete Kathy Rogers helps her team win games. Outside the pool, she has much bigger aspirations as she chases her dreams of making the world a healthier place through the field of public health.
Maddy Schmitter writes from Southeast Asia, where she is working on organic farms to learn more about sustainable food systems. With these experiences and all she learned as a public health student at Michigan, she will continue supporting practices that lead to better human and environmental health.
