Garner, a registered dietitian and community-engaged nutrition interventionist, is the John G. Searle Assistant Professor of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her research focuses on developing collaborative programs to enhance food and nutrition security, crucial for individual and community well-being.

His condition—an idiopathic disease is a disease of uncertain or unknown origin—and the challenges he anticipated facing motivated him from an early age to think deeply about how to live a full life and make a positive impact on others.
