About the Certificate
The Climate, Justice, Health, and Sustainability Certificate is a 12-credit program that sits at the crossroads of critical, interconnected fields essential to addressing today’s global challenges. With a comprehensive and thoughtfully structured curriculum, the certificate is designed to prepare future leaders with a deep understanding of climate science, climate justice, emergency preparedness, health equity, and the human health impacts of climate change.
The program offers a flexible framework, allowing students to develop skills across four distinct areas, from which they select at least one or two courses, followed by a practical experience. Each focus area includes diverse courses that build expertise in specific aspects of climate and health. Options include, but are not limited to, advanced climate modeling, the socio-political dimensions of climate justice, strategies for resilient infrastructure, and the development of inclusive health policies aimed at addressing climate-driven health disparities. There is also a practice element where a student, through 1 credit of independent study, must complete a practice project (1cr).
