Global Health in Health Management & Policy (GHMP)

Global health is exciting, growing, diverse, and competitive. The Global Health in Health Management & Policy Program prepares a small number of students to work in global health policy and management, either in the United States or abroad. The HMP global health degree is pursued by a small set of students within the larger MHSA and MPH programs, chosen at admission, who are training to apply their health management and policy skills in a range of international contexts.

Health Informatics (GCHI)

Through the Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics (GCHI) curriculum, students are introduced to the health informatics field and fundamentals in information science and public health. Completion of the GCHI requires 18 credit hours of coursework across the School of Information and School of Public Health. Only students who are currently enrolled, or who will be enrolled in the fall, in a graduate-level program at the U-M's Ann Arbor campus, may apply to the GCHI program.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The department offers a wide array of postdoctoral training opportunities. Having scholars working on health-related topics from a variety of disciplines enhances the department's intellectual environment. The department also has the postdoctoral portion of our Health Service Research Training Program grant that is run through U-M's Center for Healthcare Outcomes and Policy)

Summer Enrichment Program

The Summer Enrichment Program in Health Equity and Leadership Training in Healthcare and Public Health (SEP-HEALTHSpark) is an immersive summer experience that attracts and educates future leaders who are committed to eliminating racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic health inequalities.

SEP-HEALTHSpark is a 8-week summer experience designed to enhance students’ understanding of health equity and while exposing them to careers in community and public health and health care delivery. HealthSpark builds on the University of Michigan Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for Health Management and Policy created in 1986 by Dr. Richard Lichtenstein to identify and train future leaders of healthcare organizations who strive to eliminate health inequalities
