Summary
Gary W. Harper, PhD, MPH has been conducting sexual health and mental health focused research, practice, and training activities in global settings since 2004. He primarily works in collaboration with community agencies and community members to collaboratively develop and evaluate a range of culturally and developmentally appropriate health promotion programs. Gary and his team incorporate local capacity building activities into all of his projects to assure community ownership and long-term sustainability. Gary’s current global research and practice activities are focused on the development of holistic HIV prevention and treatment programs for gay and bisexual young men, and the development of culturally grounded mental health promotion programs for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and communities.
