Darrell Hudson named vice provost for access and opportunity

Darrell Hudson, the James S. Jackson Collegiate Professor and chair of the Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity, has been appointed Vice Provost for Access and Opportunity, effective November 1, 2026. A two-time Michigan Public Health graduate, Hudson brings extensive leadership, research, mentoring and expertise in racial, ethnic and socioeconomic health inequities to the university-wide role.

Dr. Charles B. Holmes, MPH ’95, was appointed dean of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, bringing global health leadership in infectious disease, policy, HIV prevention, tuberculosis vaccine access and community partnerships. His collaborative approach emphasizes scientific rigor, trust, health equity and preparing future public health leaders for impact.
