Cross Campus Transfer Students
Apply now
Definition
A cross-campus transfer student has completed college coursework on the University of Michigan (U-M) Ann Arbor campus but is not currently enrolled in the School of Public Health. Students are eligible to apply to cross-campus transfer in their sophomore year.
Eligibility
Before beginning a bachelor’s degree at Michigan Public Health, cross-campus transfer applicants must have a minimum of 48 transferable credits and complete the required prerequisite courses.
Please note that if you are passionate about applying to major in public health but are missing some prerequisite coursework, it is still possible to be admitted. We encourage you to email SPHundergrad@umich.edu and request an appointment. We would be happy to help discuss your unique situation and assist you on your path to public health.
Advising
Prospective cross-campus applicants are highly encouraged to attend one of our information sessions to learn more about the academic requirements and the application process before beginning your application. See the events calendar for dates and times. If you are unable to attend an information session you may request an advising appointment by emailing SPHundergrad@umich.edu.
Application Information
Our application is designed to help us get to know you and better understand your passion for public health. You’ll be asked to share details about your educational background, extracurricular and community involvement, and any employment, research, or internship experiences that have shaped your interests.
In the application, you must upload an unofficial transcript from the high school where you earned your diploma and any other post-secondary institution you have attended. This also includes dual enrollment courses and college-level courses taken elsewhere (even if already listed on your U-M transcript).
Upon admission, you will be required to submit official transcripts.
If you receive an error message asking you to remove the password protection from the document this may be due to a digital signature in the document. To resolve this issue, we suggest you choose one of the following options and then re-upload the transcript to your application:
- Open the PDF, go to print and choose Adobe APF as the printer. This will create a copy of the PDF without the digital signature.
- Take a photo of the printed document, convert the .png or .jpg file to a PDF.
As part of the application, you will submit a Statement of Interest. In this essay, we invite you to:
- Describe what you hope to gain from majoring in Public Health.
- Reflect on how your academic, extracurricular, and personal experiences have prepared you to succeed in the program.
This is your opportunity to highlight your unique perspective, motivations, and goals as you begin your journey in public health. The limit for this essay is 300 words.
Before submitting, please double check each part of your application. It’s important that your application is accurate and complete before pressing submit.
We look forward to reviewing your application and understanding your unique interests and goals in public health!
