Undergraduate Student Experience
As a public health major at the University of Michigan, you’ll become part of the university’s School of Public Health community, which includes more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students. You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in student organizations and activities, study abroad, pursue internships, engage in research and more.

Organizations and Activities
At Michigan Public Health, your experience extends far beyond the classroom. Undergraduate
students have the opportunity to get involved in more than 40 School of Public Health
student organizations and hundreds of University of Michigan organizations, as well
as participate in school-sponsored public health practice and service activities.
Study Abroad
For many students, studying abroad is a formative experience central to their education. Michigan Public Health students have the opportunity to study abroad in spring or summer terms and gain a broader understanding of public health on a global scale.
Independent Study
Independent study courses provide the opportunity for students to pursue public health topics of interest in depth by designing an individualized academic experience in collaboration with a faculty member.
Internships
While Michigan Public Health undergraduate students are not required to complete an internship, many choose to supplement their education with a hands-on internship experience. Our careers team can help you find an internship that meets your professional goals.
Research Experience

projects and build your research skills.
