Health Equity Requirement

Building on our guiding principles of social justice, cultural humility, and responsibly educated citizenry, all undergraduate public health majors (BA and BS students) will take a minimum of one 3 credit course focused on health equity. Health equity is the concept that all people are given the opportunity to attain their highest level of health. Groups of people who experience health inequities often lack social, economic or political power and privilege. Courses that meet the health equity requirement will focus on the health of groups of people who have historically experienced discrimination or been disadvantaged based on social, economic, demographic, or geographic characteristics.
